
Women’s Soccer Season Opener Set for Friday, Aug. 21, at Hodges Stadium

The Ospreys will play another Sunshine State Conference opponent after playing University of Tampa (UT) last weekend which ended in a tie 0-0.
Last year, FIT put together a winning season going 12-7-1 overall and 3-5-0 in the Division II Sunshine State Conference SSC. With their defensive efforts the Panthers were able to secure seven shutouts during the course of the season as well as crack the top 25 in the NCAA Division II poll standings, getting as high as 19th.
UNF will begin its 13th season of Osprey soccer and will look to continue their success at home having a 4-2 record at home last season.
“After having two and three-a-day practices the last two weeks the girls are definitely excited and will be ready to get on a regular routine and start the season,” Head Coach Linda Hamilton said.

“It was the first time when they announced the starting line-ups this past Saturday there wasn't a freshmen on the field,” said Hamilton. It does give you a sense of experience and makes you feel comfortable about who we have out there. It also helps the freshmen out and puts them in a great position to succeed.”
Freshman Michele Larrinaga was able to make the most of her opportunities having two shots on goal and four shots overall, helping the Ospreys apply pressure to the UT defense in the scoreless tie.
