
Ospreys try to unseat No. 11 Miami

UNF heads to Coral Gables Tuesday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 27, 2009) - The University of North Florida baseball team will head south to Coral Gables, Fla., on Tuesday to try to unseat 11th-ranked Miami (Fla.) in a non-conference showdown at 7 p.m.
UNF is 1-2 all-time against the Hurricanes and tallied its win on April 18, 2007, in Coral Gables. Antonio Franzese pitched the game of his career, holding Miami to just one hit through six innings in the 3-2 triumph. All of the games in the series have come on Miami's home field.
The Ospreys are coming off a 2-1 series win over Atlantic Sun Conference foe Mercer over the weekend at Harmon Stadium. Sophomore Preston Hale led UNF at the plate, hitting .538 (7-for-13) with five runs scored, two home runs and six RBI. His slugging percentage for the weekend was 1.077.
Senior John Frawley notched his fifth- straight complete-game win and his third shutout of the season with his 10-0 victory over Mercer on Saturday. He allowed just three hits - which was the fewest he had given up in a start this season - and struck out three batters in 7.0 innings of work.
The Hurricanes took two of three games from Virginia Tech over the weekend in Coral Gables in ACC play. Miami wrapped up its fifth ACC series win of the season and its fifth-straight series win over Virginia Tech since the teams joined the ACC. Scott Lawson leads the Hurricanes with a .350 batting average, while Yasmani Grandal represents the power threat with a team-leading 12 home runs.

Who's Hot: Hale is hitting a team- best .471 in his last five games. During that stretch, he has knocked out three home runs, scored six times and driven in seven runs. Hale has also recorded a 1.059 slugging percentage and .471 on-base percentage. He has also gotten it done in the field, notching seven putouts and a 1.000 fielding percentage. He is currently on an eight-game hitting streak.
Notables: The Ospreys will be playing their fourth game against ACC competition this year, previously playing Florida State three times ... UNF went 1-2 against the Seminoles but could have easily went 2-1 if it weren't for three unearned runs in their game on April 15 ... UNF is making its second trip to the Miami area this year ... the Ospreys dropped two games to Florida International on March 17 and 18 ... the game on Tuesday will mark the beginning of a stretch that has the Ospreys playing nine of their next 10 games on the road ... UNF has won just one non- conference game away from Harmon Stadium this year ... the Ospreys are 10-8 went committing one error or less but are 7-16 when recording at least two errors ...
