Ospreys have five-game winning streak against Knights
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida baseball team will try to get away from the rain and get back to the field against Central Florida at 6:30 p.m. in Orlando, Fla.
The Ospreys had their game rained out at Georgia Southern on Tuesday after playing two and a half innings. GSU led 3-2 before a flash of lightning forced a delay and a thunderstorm settled in.
UNF has grown weary of rain in the past few days, having its doubleheader at Campbell on Saturday rained out and being forced to complete it on Monday due to Campbell's institutional rules that don't allow the team to play on Sundays. Following the Ospreys' doubleheader sweep on Monday, UNF returned to Jacksonville at around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday and left for Georgia Southern at 12:30 p.m.
The Ospreys have won six out of their last seven games and are coming off a three-game sweep of Campbell over the weekend. UNF is tied for the Atlantic Sun Conference lead in team pitching with a 5.10 ERA and is led by senior John Frawley's 3.58 clip. Frawley also leads the Ospreys with a 3-1 record and has thrown two-straight complete games.
UNF hit .357 during its six wins and scored 58 runs. Junior TJ Thompson was on fire during that span, hitting .476 (9-for-21) with nine runs scored and 12 RBIs. Junior Kevin Martin was just behind Thompson with a .438 batting average (7-for- 16) and 12 RBIs while knocking out two home runs.
UCF has lost all six of its Conference USA games and is on a 10-game losing streak. The Knights had their game against Stetson in DeLand, Fla., on Tuesday night postponed because of rain.
