UNF will participate in the Savannah School of Art and Design Invitational
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida swimming and diving team added a meet to its schedule and will now compete in the Savannah School of Art and Design Invitational on Dec. 3-5, in Savannah, Ga.
“We like to go to invitationals,” head coach Beth Harrell commented. “They usually consist of trials in the mornings and finals at night, which is more like our conference meet. We like to go and be able to emulate our conference meet. The meet is close, only about an hour and a half away.”
“It is during the weekend before finals, so at the end of the week our kids have projects and tests and then the next week finals. It is a busy time, so we are not going to take a full squad. We gave them opportunities to race in the events they wanted to race and come up all three days, two days or just one day. We are excited to be able to race again. We felt we needed to do something before the semester ended. We've had a pretty good first semester and we didn't want it to end yet. We are going to race a little more and see what we can do with a couple of events. Then we are going to get back to training to get ready for UNC Wilmington in January.”
The Ospreys will compete against Savannah College of Art and Design, who are the reigning NAIA National Champions, along with Breneau, Catawba, Converse, Cumberland, Darton, Guilford, Lagrange, Limestone, Rollins, Saint Leo and Wingate.
Following the meet at SCAD, the Ospreys return to the UNF Aquatic Center for a meet on Saturday, Jan. 2, against UNC Wilmington. The meet is scheduled for 11 a.m.
