
Volleyball Heads to Upstate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida volleyball team will travel to Spartanburg, S.C. on Friday, Oct. 23, to face Atlantic Sun foe USC Upstate. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Hodge Arena.
UNF (10-13, 4-9 A-Sun) is coming off a 3-0 win over non-conference opponent Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday. Junior middle blocker Kaley Read posted 20 kills against the Wildcats. Read leads the team on the season, averaging 3.9 kills per set. Freshman outside hitter Paige Pridgeon is adding 2.87 while junior outside hitter Danielle Lerch is tallying 2.86 kills per set. Junior setter Jessica Catelano is notching 9.33 assists per set while freshman libero Nicole Baran leads on the defensive side with 2.53 digs per set.
The Spartans (6-16, 2-10 A-Sun) are led by Kelsie Queen with 2.39 kills per set, and Morgan Thomas is adding 2.28. Setters Emily Sanders and Morgan Bucciferro are tallying 4.75 and 4.92 assists per set, respectively. Megan Healey is averaging 3.34 digs per set for the defensive side.
UNF and Upstate met earlier in the season at UNF Arena. The Ospreys picked up the 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-13) win over the Spartans. Lerch had 18 kills and Read added 17 in the match. Thomas, along with Erin Jacobsen, had nine kills each. The Ospreys hold a 26-3 all-time record over the Spartans.
