Ospreys to host A-Sun foe Campbell
2/1/2008 4:20:25 PM | Men's Basketball
Game set for 4:15 p.m. tip at UNF Arena on Saturday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida men's basketball team will get back to the floor on Saturday afternoon in search of its first Atlantic Sun Conference victory of the year. Up next for UNF will be Campbell, which lost to Jacksonville 77-66 on Thursday night.
The Ospreys dropped a hard-fought game to Gardner-Webb on Thursday, serving as their own worst enemy in the process - missing 13-of-33 free throws in a 75-61 loss. That negated the second-best shooting performance by any Osprey team since moving to Division I prior to the 2005-06 season. UNF shot 54 percent from the floor against GWU (23-of-43).
Campbell provided UNF with its first-ever Division I conference victory two years ago at UNF Arena. The Ospreys won that game 95-84 when they posted their top Division I shooting percentage (59 percent). Since then, the Camels have won three straight meetings - including both matchups last season.
Tom Hammonds (13.8 ppg) and Stan Januska (10.2 ppg) continue to be UNF's leading scorers. Hammonds has scored in double figures 19 times this season and in 17 consecutive games.
