UNF Fall Invitational comes to successful end

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The 2008 University of North Florida Invitational came to a close on Sunday for another successful year.

Over 160 players participated in the tournament for the second-straight year. Freshman Marcos Chiaretti led the UNF men, capturing the men's C flight title. Sophomore Graham Edgar teamed up with Belmont's Fausto Rocha to claim the men's B flight doubles championship.

"I want to thank all of the teams for participating in this year's tournament and making it very successful," UNF head men's coach Igal Buberman said. "Everyone put in a lot of hard work to make this happen, and I think this has become a great annual event."

The UNF women had just one match on Sunday in the doubles B flight. Freshman Aline Berkenbrock and senior Ina Durcakova fell 8-6 to East Tennessee State's Tara Byrne and Karina Kedzo in a closely contested match.

The men will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 24 to compete in the UNC Wilmington Invitational, while the women will play at one more fall tournament that has yet to be decided.
