UNF caps road swing through Georgia on Saturday night
KENNESAW, Ga. - The University of North Florida men's basketball team will cap its two-game swing through Georgia on Saturday with a game a old nemesis Kennesaw State. The former Division II Peach Belt Conference rivals will square off for the 21st time in the series at KSU's Convocation Center with both teams looking for their first Atlantic Sun Conference victory.
UNF senior point guard Chris Timberlake will look to make history while leading his team to its first A-Sun win of the season - needing just five points to reach 1,000 in his career. The Miami native would be just the fifth UNF player to eclipse 1,000 points in the program's 16-year history. Timberlake has already set the school's career records for 3-pointers made, 3- pointers attempted and steals this season. He is within striking distance of the school assists record as well.
Although UNF has eight of the last nine games played between the team, nearly all have been tight - with six being decided by 10 points or less and four of the last six by four points or less. The Ospreys fell 89-68 at Mercer on Thursday while KSU lost to Jacksonville, 73-56.
