As a sophomore, 2006-07: Competed in all eight meets ... finished in the top-three three times ... best finish was when she won the 500-free against UNC Wilmington and Florida State with a time of 5:09.33 ... time in that event was the best of any UNF swimmer ... finished second in the 1000-free and third in the 500-free against Campbell in the first meet of the year.
As a freshman, 2005-06: A strong distance swimmer for the Lady Ospreys, she recorded five first-place finishes on the year and a top-20 at the Pacific Coast Swimming Championship ... top performance of the year came against New Orleans in the 1000-freestyle, an event in which she finishes in 10:50.51 ... lowered her previous best time in a meet by more than 10 seconds against New Orleans ... earned first place finishes in the 500-freestyle and 1000-freestyle against Campbell ... recorded a time of 10:55.71, taking second in the 1000-freestyle against UNC-Wilmington ... finishes first against Florida Atlantic in the 1000-freestyle with a time of 10:54.30.
Previous School: 2005 graduate of Buyuk Kolej, where she swam for Gurbuz Balemir. Won multiple city championships in freestyle and butterfly events and is a four-time national champion in Turkey in those events as well. Competed in international championships for Turkey in 2001 and 2005.
Personal: Majoring in engineering. Born June 14, 1988, in Anakara, Turkey, her hometown. Daughter of Nuran and Naci Meric and the younger sister of Irem. Favorite actor is George Clooney, favorite actress is Nicole Kidman and favorite athlete is Michael Jordan. Future goal is to be an engineer. Enjoys surfing the Internet and hanging out with friends in her spare time.
