Biography

2011-12 (junior): Named First-Team All-Atlantic Sun in singles… tabbed Second-Team All-Atlantic Sun in doubles with Norbert Nemcsek… was 16-12 overall in singles, including 13-8 in the spring and 4-2 in the Atlantic Sun… played mainly at No. 2 (9-5), but also saw time on courts No. 1 (0-1) and No. 3 (4-2)… three-time Atlantic Sun Player of the Week selection (Feb. 22, Apr. 4, Apr. 11)… became the conference’s first player since USC Upstate’s Javier Tori in 2010 to earn back-to-back Player of the Week honors… received first Player of the Week honor after capturing consecutive No. 3 singles wins against UCF’s Mario Samson (Feb. 17) and Florida Atlantic’s Will Neuner (Feb. 18) and posting an 8-4 win with Nemcsek against Florida Atlantic’s Taylor Albrecht and Neuner… helped UNF to key Atlantic Sun road wins at Florida Gulf Coast (Mar. 29) and then-No. 74 Stetson (Mar. 31) for second Player of the Week honor… played key role in the Ospreys’ wins against Belmont (Apr. 6) and Lipscomb (Apr. 7) for third weekly award… had the match point as UNF defeated both Stetson and Belmont by 4-3 scores… held on for a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 three-set victory against Stetson’s Njal Stene at No. 2 singles… defeated Belmont’s Henrique Norbiato 6-3, 7-6 (5) at No. 2 singles… along with Nemcsek, also clinched the doubles point against Stetson, defeating Hans Adrian Riseng and Stene 9-8… went 21-9 in doubles overall, including 17-6 in dual matches and 4-3 in the fall… teamed with Nemcsek throughout the entire spring, playing mainly at No. 1 (12-5)… also played at No. 2 doubles (5-1) to start the spring… posted a 7-1 doubles record with Nemcsek against Atlantic Sun opponents… pulled out a thrilling 9-8 (5) win with Nemcsek at against then-No. 71 Radford’s Igor Ogrizek and Stijn Meulemans at No. 2 doubles in UNF’s home opener… finished the regular season on an eight-match winning streak that started with an 8-6 No. 1 doubles win against ETSU’s Sander Gille and Robin Asker (Mar. 17)… was 3-4 in singles and 4-3 in doubles during the fall… along with Moritz Buerchner, advanced to the Round of 32 in the doubles bracket at the ITA South Region Championships (Oct. 20-24).

2010-11 (Sophomore): Second-Team All-Atlantic Sun in doubles with Hleb Maslau aftering going 21-3 for the season and 9-1 in the conference… posted an 18-3 record at No. 2 doubles…  tallied 11-straight doubles wins from Mar. 12-Apr. 10… had wins over No. 67 Elon’s No. 2 doubles team of Cody Stauffer-MacDowell and Eric Turner, No. 63 East Tennessee State’s No. 2 duo of Sander Gille and Jesus Bandres and No. 45 South Florida’s No. 2 team of Romain Deridder and Yannick Yoshizawa… took an 8-4 win over Armstrong Atlantic’s Matus Mydla and Pedro Scocuglia, who were No. 20 nationally in Division II… reached the quarterfinals at the 2010 ITA Regional Championships with Maslau… went 14-9 in singles play, getting seven wins at both No. 2 and No. 3 singles… posted a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles over Armstrong Atlantic’s Mikk Irdoja, who was ranked No. 4 nationally in Division II… started the season with a 6-1 singles record, including a three-set triumph over No. 67’s Elon’s Eric Turner at No. 2 singles… advanced to the quarterfinals in singles play at the 2010 ITA Southeast Regionals… Atlantic Sun All-Academic.

2009-10 (Freshman): Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-Atlantic Sun in doubles… had a 22-7 overall singles record… including 9-1 in tournament play and 13-6 in duals… posted a 9-1 in the Atlantic Sun… saw time at No. 1 (1-1), No. 2 (4-2), No. 3 (3-1) and No. 4 (5-2)… had a win No. 93 Grega Teraz, the No. 2 player from No. 51 ETSU… also picked up wins over No. 54 USC Upstate’s No. 2, Renzo Airalid and No. 74 UCF’s No. 4 player Blaze Schwartz during duals… in doubles, he and partner Hleb Maslau, tallied a 16-6 mark, going 12-6 in duals at the No. 1 and 8-2 in the Atlantic Sun… the pair claimed wins over No. 75 College of Charleston’s Steven Myers and Billy Kenny at No. 3 and over No. 52 USC Upstate’s No. 2 pair of Marco Linconir and Jack Roux… Atlantic Sun All-Academic.

Other Experience: National Tennis Champion in the 12, 14, 16 and 18 age categories (2000-06)… All-Category Champion in 2008… always ranked in the top five of each category… played in the Inka Bowl in 2003-06)… was the National Champion of the 18 year old category when he was 14.

Personal: Majoring in Business… son of Celso Sotomarino Chavez and Dora Guevara Meza… has two brothers Celso and Cesar and a sister Neride… born August 28.
