Biography
2011-12: Played and started in all 32 games for UNF... Second on the team in rebounding (4.3 rebounds per game) and blocked shots (23)... Ranked sixth in the Atlantic Sun shooting 54.4 percent from the field — Was second in FG percentage for league play connecting on 59.8 percent of his shots... Recorded 12 double figure scoring performances including a season best 18 against rival Jacksonville... Led the Ospreys in rebounding nine times hauling down nine on three different occassions... Needs just 91 points to reach 1,000 for his career and only 12 rebounds shy of 500 — would become just fourth player in UNF history to reach both those milestones... Enters senior year having started in every game of his career.
2010-11: Named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Tournament squad… Tabbed ASun Player of the Week honors (Jan. 18-25)… Played and started all 34 games for UNF… Led the team and ranked 17
th in the conference at 5.5 rebounds per game… Ranked second in the ASun shooting 56.2 percent from the field… Also listed among the league leaders in both blocked shots (36 – 7
th) and steals (42 – 13
th)… Posted double-digit points 18 times including three games with 20 or more… Scored a career best 23 against Wyoming… Also had 21 versus Kennesaw State and 20 against Jacksonville… Led team in rebounds 15 times and was top scorer in seven contests… Collected double-double at Wyoming by hauling down season best 11 rebounds... Among conference leaders in offensive rebounds ranking 10
th with 2.24 per game… Averaged 8.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game during Canadian summer tour… Had 12 pt/10 reb double-double against Windsor
2009-10: Named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshmen team... Played and started in all 31 games... Ranked 18th in the Atlantic Sun in rebounding at 5.3 rebounds per game... Shot over 50 percent (50.2) from the floor... Posted 11 double-figure scoring performances including career high 17 twice against Canisius and Florida Gulf Coast... Tallied double digit rebounds six times highlighted by a career best 12 at Kennesaw State... Recorded three double-double performances including a pair in the final four games of the season... Led the team in scoring six times and was the high rebounder in 13 contests... Played all 40 minutes in game against FGCU.
High School: Named to the 6A all-state second team (6A is the largest class of schools in Florida)... Three of the senior players on the first team continued their playing careers at North Carolina, Kansas State and Florida, while the other two first-team members were juniors… Helped guide his Hialeah-Miami Lakes team to a 20-6 record and the regional quarterfinals… Averaged 21 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, three blocks and three steals as a senior… His squad also gave fellow freshman teammate Jerron Granberry and his Coral Reef state championship team one of its four losses, 70-68… Earned first team All-Dade County honors as a junior and senior… Two-time team MVP and a McDonalds All-American nominee… Played in the South Florida All-Star Basketball Classic, where he played alongside Granberry... As a junior he averaged 22 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals… Was a four-year varsity member… Coached by Raymond Beneby at Miami Lakes... Also played AAU basketball with Granberry for coach Gaston “Chachi” Rodriguez for Florida Gold Coast… Competed on the men’s volleyball team for three seasons, helping team to district titles as a junior and senior.
Personal: Born August 30, 1991… Son of Juliana and Andres Diaz… Has two brothers, Eric Armenteros and Adrian Diaz... Eric played basketball at Eckerd College and Adrian currently plays basketball at Kansas State… Majoring in Criminal Justice.
