Derek Vail enters his first season as the Volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach.
Vail played collegiately at Santa Fe College from 2012-2014. In 2013, he was named to the All-State Academic Team and Dean’s List. Vail represented the Saints in the FCSAA All-Star Game and in 2014 was named to the All-American Academic Team and Dean’s List. He also received the NJCAA Exemplary Academic Achievement Award.
After Santa Fe, Vail played one season at Florida State where he made 10 appearances for the 2015 ACC Champions and was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
Vail attended Buchholz High School in Gainesville, FL and was a 2-year letter winner in baseball.
He coached at Chiles High School in Tallahassee, FL from 2015-2016.
