
Baseball Secures Fourth Straight ASUN Series With Rubber Match Win Over Queens, 10-6

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida Baseball earned its fourth consecutive series win to open ASUN Conference play, defeating Queens, 10-6, in Game 3 of the series at Harmon Stadium on Saturday.
The Ospreys opened the scoring in a big way with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Junior infielder Mitchell Collins plated the first run of the game, crossing home on a throwing error to give North Florida a 1-0 advantage. Redshirt junior utility player Boone Hosey delivered a two-RBI single to left field to cap off UNF's three-run first frame.Â
Queens scored four runs in the top of the second inning to earn its only lead of the game. North Florida responded with seven unanswered runs, including a four-run frame in the bottom of the sixth.
Junior infielder Mathew Farner belted his ninth home run of the season in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game, 4-4.
Redshirt senior outfielder Tyler Gerteisen roped a go-ahead triple to left field in the bottom of the sixth frame to give North Florida a 5-4 lead. Collins roped an RBI single to right field that scored Gerteisen from third base to put North Florida ahead, 6-4.
Hosey kept the line moving in the bottom of the sixth inning and worked a bases-loaded walk that allowed North Florida to command a 7-4 lead. Redshirt junior utility player Jackson Toberman capped off UNF's four-run sixth frame with an RBI sacrifice fly.
Junior outfielder Gialdri Gomez drove in North Florida's final two runs of the game with his second double of the contest. Gomez' two-RBI double gave the Ospreys a 10-4 lead.Â
Queens scored its final two runs in the top of the ninth inning, though it wasn't enough to overcome the eventual final margin.
