
Baseball Secures Road Series At Queens In Run-Rule Fashion, 12-1

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - North Florida Baseball secured its eighth ASUN Conference series of the season with a run-rule win in Game 3 of its road weekend series at Queens, 12-1, at The Stick at Williams Dream Fields on Sunday.
Junior outfielder Gialdri Gomez had a dominant day at the plate for North Florida. Gomez went 3-4 with three RBI and one run.
Junior infielder Mitchell Collins and redshirt sophomore outfielder Carter White each added multi-hit performances.
Collins went 2-3 with two walks, two runs and one RBI. It marked Collins' 16th multi-hit game this season.
White went 2-3 with three RBI, three runs, one home run and one walk. It marked White's team-high 11th home run this season.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Trevor Nikolis delivered a solid start on the mound for the Ospreys. Nikolis dealt 5.0 innings and allowed just one run, three hits and one walk while notching one strikeout.Â
Queens opened the scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning.Â
Sophomore utility player Seth Alford tied the game in the top of the second inning with a double to shallow left-center field.
North Florida broke the game open with an eight-run top of the fourth frame.
Collins got the scoring started in the fourth inning with a go-ahead RBI single to first base to give the Ospreys a 2-1 lead.
Gomez cleared the bases with a single down the right-field line to put North Florida ahead, 5-1. Junior infielder Mathew Farner roped an RBI single down the left-field line later in the top of the fourth, allowing UNF to command a 6-1 edge.
White capped off North Florida's eight-run fourth inning with a three-run homer to right field to give the Ospreys a 9-1 lead.Â
Benjamin continued to break the game open with an RBI double to the right-center field gap in the top of the fifth inning to put North Florida ahead, 10-1.
Gomez notched his third RBI of the game with a deep sacrifice fly to right-center field, allowing UNF to command an 11-1 advantage.Â
Hosey capped off a three-run fifth frame for the Ospreys with an RBI single to right field, bringing the score to its eventual final margin.
