Baseball Drops Series Finale At FGCU

FORT MYERS, Fla. - North Florida Baseball dropped its series finale on the road at FGCU, 13-3, at Swanson Stadium on Sunday.
Redshirt freshman outfielder Sean Benjamin led the way offensively for North Florida with a 2-4 outing and one RBI. Benjamin delivered a go-ahead RBI double to right-center field in the top of the sixth inning.
North Florida received a solid start on the mound from sophomore right-handed pitcher Trevor Nikolis. He dealt 5.0 innings and allowed just four hits and one run while posting three strikeouts without giving up a walk.
Redshirt junior utility player Jackson Schrafft added a multi-hit performance and went 2-3.Â
The Eagles opened the scoring with one run in the bottom of the second frame.
Junior outfielder Gialdri Gomez tied the game in the top of the sixth inning with a solo home run down the right-field line. It marked Gomez' fifth home run of the season.
Redshirt sophomore outfielder Carter White reached base later in the sixth inning with a base hit to set up Benjamin's go-ahead double in the gap that put North Florida ahead, 2-1.
Senior catcher Santiago Ordonez notched an RBI single through the left side in the top of the seventh frame to extend North Florida's lead to 3-1.
FGCU responded with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and eight runs in the eighth, bringing the score to its eventual final margin.
