
Women's Basketball Drops Hard-Fought Contest To Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Women's Basketball dropped a hard-fought contest to Jacksonville, 58-52, in UNF Arena Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Dezuray McGill led the Ospreys with 15 points and two steals on 7-14 from the field in 24 minutes. For McGill, it marked her 10th game of the season with at least 10 points.
Freshman Soraya Ogaldez tallied a career-high 12 points and three steals on 4-7 from the field, 1-2 from three and 3-4 from the charity stripe in 19 minutes.
The Osprey jumped out to an early 13-6 lead after a Washington three at the 4:10 mark of the first quarter. North Florida would secure their first double-digit lead of the game, 18-8, after a three from redshirt junior Georgi Buzzetti. North Florida would take an 18-11 lead into the second quarter.Â
Jacksonville would narrow the margin, before a McGill layup would give UNF a 29-26 advantage at the halftime break.Â
Sophomore guard Jamisyn Stinson led all scorers in the first half with 11 points on 3-7 from beyond the arc. For Stinson, she's posted 10+ points in seven of the last nine contests, 11 games this season and 24 career games.
Jacksonville would take its first lead of the game, 35-32, after a corner three at the 4:56 mark of the third quarter. A McGill basket would retake the lead 39-38 at the 1:56 mark. The score was deadlocked, 42-42, headed into the fourth quarter.
Jacksonville would take the lead for the final time, 48-43, at the 6:50 mark of the fourth quarter.
North Florida travels to DeLand, Fla., to take on Stetson on Thursday, Feb. 19. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
