
Women's Basketball Drops Contest To Austin Peay

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Women's Basketball fell to Austin Peay, 80-55, at UNF Arena on Saturday.Â
A trio of Ospreys scored in double figures led by redshirt sophomore guard Alexa Washington. Washington turned in a season-high 15 points on 6-9 from the field and 3-6 from three, in addition to four assists and three rebounds in 29 minutes.Â

Junior guard Ella Blatchford added 13 points on 4-6 from the field and 3-5 from three, the sixth game of the season and 23rd of her career in double figures, in 28 minutes. She has scored 10 or more points in five of the last six games.Â

Freshman forward Dezuray McGill posted 10 points, her second-straight and sixth game with 10 or more points this season.Â

Washington finished a layup to make it a one-possession margin at 9-7 in favor of Austin Peay at the first-quarter media timeout. Austin Peay extended its lead to 19-10 at the end of the first quarter.Â

The margin remained at nine at 30-21 at the second-quarter media timeout. Austin Peay led 41-27 at the half.Â

Blatchford led all Ospreys with eight points on 3-3 from the field and 2-2 from three.Â

Washington reached double figures with a three at the 7:31-minute mark of the third quarter. It marked her second-straight game and third this season with 10 or more points.Â

Redshirt junior forward Georgi Buzzetti drained a three off an assist from McGill at the 3:30-minute mark of the third quarter. Austin Peay took a 60-39 lead into the fourth quarter.Â

Austin Peay outscored North Florida 20-16 in the fourth quarter to reach the eventual final margin.Â

North Florida travels to Carrollton, Ga. to face West Georgia at The Coliseum on Thursday, Jan. 8. The game is set for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.Â
