
Men's Basketball Drains 16 Threes, Falls In Back-And-Forth Road Battle At Lipscomb

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In a game that featured five lead changes and four ties, North Florida Men's Basketball fell in a tightly contested road contest at Lipscomb, 82-74, at Allen Arena on Saturday.Â

Sophomore guard Kent Jackson turned in 19 points, 14 of which came in the first half, on 7-14 from the field and 5-9 from three, in addition to six rebounds in 33 minutes. Jackson has scored 10 or more points in three-straight games and nine games this season.Â

Senior guard Kamrin Oriol added 19 points, 14 of which came in the second half, in 36 minutes. Oriol has now scored 10 or more points in 14 of 15 games. Sophomore guard Dante Oliver, a Knoxville, Tenn. native, turned in a career-high 11 points on 4-5 from the field and 3-4 from three in 22 minutes.Â

Jackson scored eight points to propel North Florida to a 10-1 start that forced a Bison timeout at the 15:58 minute mark of the first half. Oriol connected on a three right out the timeout to push the lead to 13-1. Lipscomb responded with a 11-0 run to cut the margin to 13-12 in favor of North Florida.Â

North Florida limited Lipscomb to 6-21 from the field at the under eight-minute media timeout. After Lipscomb took the lead for the first time, North Florida went on an 8-0 run to retake the lead at 31-26. Lipscomb led 38-35 at the half.Â

Trailing by 11, North Florida connected on four-straight threes for a 12-0 run over a span of 2:01 minutes to retake the lead at 51-50 at the 12:28 minute mark of the second half. Jackson connected on his fifth three of the game to cut the deficit to 62-58.Â

After Lipscomb opened its largest lead of the game, North Florida went on a 9-0 run to cut the margin to two scores at 76-71 with 2:12 minutes left in regulation.Â
