JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's high jumper Jayvin Strouble has notched his first-career conference weekly honor earning ASUN Freshman of the Week from the Atlantic Sun Conference, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
In his second-ever collegiate meet, Strouble earned the top mark at the ACSEC Invitational surpassing the 2.05m bar in the high jump. He was the only jumper to clear the 2.05m mark out of the 25 athletes in competition.
"Jayvin [Strouble] had a very good series," said Jeff Pigg, Director of Cross Country / Track and Field. "It was a large competition and he stayed focused and finished very well."
It is back-to-back weeks that an Osprey has been awarded ASUN Freshman of the Week following in the footsteps of Parker Banzhaf's performance at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational. It's the third freshman honor all-time for the Ospreys in the ASUN Conference.
He's also the first UNF field athlete since 2019 to take home ASUN Freshman of the Week for indoor season. It is the third weekly award for the Ospreys this season, which already matches last year's total and program-high mark for a single season.
Strouble will return this next weekend back in Gainesville, Fla., for the Visit Gainesville Indoor Classic on Feb. 6 at Alachua County Sports & Events Center.
