JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Women's Tennis sophomore Gabby Goyins earned Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
"I'm so extremely proud of Gabby," North Florida head coach Catherine Dunagan said. "She showed so much toughness and resilience this weekend especially when the FAU match was on the line. Gabby's worked hard to earn such a recognition and I know she will continue to achieve more throughout this spring."
Goyins swept all four of her matches in the initial week of the spring season with a 2-0 record in both doubles and singles action. She clinched each match point, and her undefeated 4-0 mark propelled North Florida to a 2-0 start with wins against FAU on Jan. 16 and against Georgia Southern on Jan. 19.
The sophomore, Goyins, displayed a clutch performance in the season opener against FAU and clinched the match-winning point with a singles win at the five line, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.
