
Four Ospreys Earn Preseason All-ASUN Honors, Men's Soccer Voted Favorites In Coaches Poll

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced that North Florida men's soccer was named preseason favorites in the 2025 Coaches' Poll and four Ospreys earned Preseason All-ASUN Team selections, headlined by Preseason Player of the Year redshirt senior forward David Perez.Â

In addition to Perez, sophomore midfielder Anton Khelil, fifth year midfielder Rentaro Miyakawa and senior defender Jaylen Yearwood were named to the Preseason All-ASUN Team.Â

North Florida was voted by the conference's head coaches to repeat with six first-place votes and 62 total points after it captured 2024 ASUN Regular Season and 2024 ASUN Championship titles in the debut season under head coach Jamie Davies.Â

Perez appeared in all 19 matches with 16 starts and totaled seven goals and two assists for 16 points, all of which were recorded in ASUN action, in addition to 34 shots and 17 shots on goal in 1,348 minutes to earn a 2024 First Team All-ASUN selection. Perez ranked third in the ASUN in goals and fifth in points. He netted four goals in the first three conference matches, a goal in six different conference matches and a brace against crosstown rival Jacksonville on Sept. 28 to earn ASUN Player of the Week honors on Sept. 30.Â

Khelil appeared in all 19 matches with 18 starts, totaled three goals, two assists, eight points and 24 shots in 1,620 minutes played in 2024. He was an unanimous selection to the 2024 ASUN All-Freshman Team, 2024 Second Team All-ASUN and 2024 ASUN All-Tournament Team. His 1,620 minutes played were second on the team and his 603 minutes in ASUN Conference matches led the team. He recorded two assists against No. 3 seed FGCU in the ASUN Championship Semifinal on Nov. 11. He played the full time in 12 matches, including 110 minutes against Central Arkansas in the 2024 ASUN Championship Final on Nov. 16.Â

Miyakawa played in all 19 matches with 18 starts and totaled a goal and nine assists for 11 points, in addition to 13 shots in 1,305 minutes played in 2024. He was named 2024 Second Team All-ASUN. Miyakawa led the ASUN Conference in assists with nine and in ASUN Conference matches with seven. His seven assists in ASUN Conference action were two more than the next highest. Miyakawa concluded the season with four-straight games with at least one assist.
Yearwood appeared in 14 matches with 13 starts and totaled five assists for five points in 1,007 minutes played in 2024. His five assists ranked second in the ASUN. He anchored the backline to post four shutouts, three of which were in ASUN action. He recorded an assist in the final three conference matches against Central Arkansas on Nov. 2, No. 3 seed FGCU in the 2024 ASUN Championship Semifinal on Nov. 11 and No. 4 seed Central Arkansas in the 2024 ASUN Championship Final on Nov. 16.Â
