Cross Country / Track and Field Announces 2025-26 Coaching Staff

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida cross country / track and field program reveals the additions and promotions of its coaching staff heading into the 2025-26 season, as announced by Jeff Pigg on Friday afternoon.

Tyler Stahl will be returning to UNF as the Associate Head Coach of the cross country teams and an Assistant Coach for the track and field teams. He competed as a student-athlete for the Ospreys from 2014-18 and coached at UNF from 2021-24 before spending this past season as the Head Cross Country and Distance Coach at Louisiana Monroe.

"I am thrilled to be back at UNF in this role. There is an incredible vision for the track program and facilities that will contribute to even greater years ahead," Stahl said on his return. "I will be a part of an amazing group of coaches and athletes that will lead the program to great success."

Evander Wells earns a promotion as the Associate Head Coach of the track and field teams, along with being an Assistant Coach for the cross country teams. Wells joined UNF before the 2023-24 season and has helped the program elevate its sprints and hurdles program over the past two seasons.

"I'm grateful to take this next step here at UNF and incredibly thankful to Coach [Jeff] Pigg for his belief in me and the mentorship that has helped me grow," Wells said on his promotion. "This program means a lot to me and I'm proud to be a part of something truly special that we're building together."

Kaley Petrosky has also been promoted on a full-time basis as an Assistant Coach for the track and field teams. Much like Stahl, she competed for the Ospreys as a student-athlete from 2019-23 and coached the jumpers these past two seasons in a volunteer role.

"We have a great coaching staff and I'm honored and excited to be here in a fuller capacity," Petrosky said on her new role. "Looking forward to working with Coach [Jeff] Pigg, Coach [Evander] Wells and Coach [Tyler] Stahl for a great season to come."


Tyler Stahl | Associate Cross Country Head Coach

Stahl makes his way back to Jacksonville after spending the 2024-25 season as the Head Cross Country and Distance Coach at Louisiana Monroe. He coached the program's first-ever sub four-minute miler, three Sun Belt track and field champions, and led athletes to a total of seven program records.

In his latest season as an assistant at UNF from 2023-24, his tenure was highlighted by Smilla Kolbe's appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the women's 800m race. He helped Kolbe, Seth Martinez, Robert Pedroza to All-ASUN selections as distance runners on the track, as well as a total of six All-ASUN distictions from the cross country season.

In 2022-23, Stahl coached the Most Outstanding Indoor Track Performer, as well as five first team All-ASUN, six second team All-ASUN, one third team All-ASUN and four ASUN All-Academic selections, between cross country and track. He assisted the team to breaking nine different program records between the three seasons. He also helped three runners advance to NCAA East First Round and Aidan O'Gorman to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the 10,000m.

During the 2021-22 cross country and track and field season, Stahl assisted in producing four event winners, as well as 11 All-ASUN placements, highlighted by helping the men's cross country team win the ASUN Championship in the fall. He also aided athletes from both teams to multiple records and accomplishments, personal-best times, and conference award recognitions.

"It is great to welcome Coach [Tyler] Stahl back home. As an athlete, he embodied our core principles and then continued to shape the program as an assistant," Pigg said on Stahl's return. "He brings a lot to our staff and will be instrumental in continuing the trajectory of the program. His role has always been big and moving forward, he will have even more responsibilities. He will specifically have a prominent role coaching our distance and middle distance runners."


Evander Wells | Associate Track and Field Head Coach

Wells joined the Osprey coaching staff as an Assistant Coach in the summer of 2023 and was promoted to Associate Track and Field Head Coach before the 2025-26 season.

During the 2024-25 season, he continued to elevate the sprinters, jumpers and relay programs totaling 20 combined All-ASUN selections between the outdoor and indoor seasons. This also included three ASUN weekly honors from William Owens and Jonathan Bailey, as well as being an intregal part of Smilla Kolbe's NCAA Outdoor Championship First Team All-American finish for the women's 800m competition.

In his first season at UNF as an assistant coach between indoor and outdoor track and field, he helped put together nine All-ASUN selections, including two First Team honorees. With his focus on sprinters during the 2024 season, he assisting in developing Rey Hernandez into a two-time ASUN Freshman of the Week and Celine D'Anna into a Second Team All-ASUN selection in the 400mH. He also was a part of Smilla Kolbe's run to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 800m, as well as her two ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year selections.

"Evander [Wells] has done a terrific job helping expand our track program to include sprints and hurdles," Pigg said on Well's accomplishments at UNF. "Along with all of the daily duties, his coaching on the track has yielded many records and champions. He is a great asset to this program."


Kaley Petrosky | Assistant Track and Field Coach

Petrosky joined the Osprey staff as an assistant coach during the fall of 2023 with a focus on jumping events.

During the 2024-25 season, Petrosky helped four student-athletes to All-ASUN recognitions in the outdoor high jump competition highlighted with Tyshone Bolden's top jump for gold. She also coached up three Ospreys to All-ASUN distinctions during the indoor high jump with Nicole Shepherd also taking home ASUN Indoor All-Academic honors.

Petrosky had a stellar first season as an assistant for UNF, as she helped Jacob Hippo to a Second Team All-ASUN selection during indoor season, as well as a Third Team All-ASUN selection during outdoor season. She has been a key piece to developing the expansion of the track and field program.

"It is great to have two former athletes on staff. Tyler [Stahl] and Kaley [Petrosky] both were instrumental athletically in building the program to where it is at today. I'm glad they are both on staff to continue to guide our program to new heights," Pigg said on the former Osprey duo. "Kaley has done a great job coaching our jumpers the last couple of years. I'm glad we could finally bring her on staff in a bigger capacity. She will be a great asset for our student-athletes."
