JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Redshirt freshman
Alejandro Romagosa has been awarded ASUN Freshman of the Week for the first time in his career, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Romagosa is the sixth UNF cross country runner to bring in ASUN Freshman of the Week honors since the league debuted the award in 2019. He's the first Osprey freshman to be recognized since teammate
Seth Martinez won the award on Sept. 21, 2021.
The Miami, Fla., native made his first appearance with the Osprey squad in cross country at the Florida Intercollegiate XC Invitational on Friday, Aug. 29. He placed 18th overall with a blazing time of 25:24.9 in the 8k race to place over in-state competitors in the field.
"I'm really proud of Alejandro [Ramos]," Director of Cross Country / Track and Field
Jeff Pigg said. "He was patient through his injury and worked back very methodically throughout this summer. He has worked very hard and is ready to have a great season."
Romagosa and the Ospreys continue their 2025 campaign at Florida State's Seminole Invite on Friday, Sept. 26, at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla.
