COLUMBIA, S.C. - No. 3-seeded North Florida softball fell in the winner's bracket to No. 1-seeded South Carolina, 3-0, in the NCAA Columbia Regional on Saturday afternoon at Beckham Park.
North Florida was able to load the bases in the first inning after an RBI double from junior
Kirsten Caravaca, but went into the second frame still scoreless. Through four innings, senior
Allison Benning was spinning scoreless ball with only one hit allowed to Gamecock hitters.
The game stayed scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when the Gamecocks hit a blooper near the right line and scored on a throwing error. Two more runs scored for South Carolina in the frame shortly after to reach the eventual final.
