LOUISVILLE, Ky. - North Florida softball's Allison Benning adds on to her award collection this season with National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Second Team All-Gulf Region honors, as announced by the national organization on Thursday afternoon.
This is the fifth time that an Osprey has been selected to a NFCA All-Region team. She is the only player in program history to take home regional postseason honors twice in her career.
This is the second time Benning has made a NFCA All-Region Team as an Osprey with her Third Team nod to the All-Southeast Region in 2024. She continues to rack up honors adding this to her ASUN Player, Pitcher & Scholar-Athlete of the Year distinctions, as well as ASUN Tournament MVP.
Benning is one of three players in her region to be selected from a mid-major school for either the first or second team. Autumn Courtney from Florida Atlantic and Taylor McKinney from Troy were the only two players that come from non-Power Four schools.
"Another great honor for Benny. She's such a unique talent in the way she impacts games in so many ways," said head coach Jeff Conrad. "I'm sure this is just the beginning of the many accolades heading her way."
Benning and the Ospreys will compete in the NCAA Columbus Regional from May 16-18 starting with Virginia on Saturday, May 16, at 3 p.m., on ESPN+.
