
Women's Tennis Handles Austin Peay

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida women's tennis continued its hot start in ASUN conference play with a win over Austin Peay, 5-2, at UNF Tennis Complex on Sunday.Â

North Florida remained undefeated in conference doubles action with wins at the one and three lines. Freshman tandem Gabby Goyins and Aryana Bartlett took the third doubles court, 6-3. Redshirt junior Isabel Oliveira and freshman Nicole Alfaro Solis secured the initial point with a 6-2 win at the one spot.Â

The Ospreys have won all four doubles decisions in conference action.Â

North Florida continued to cruise in singles action with first-set wins on all courts. Straight-set wins from Alfaro Solis, junior Jasmin Makela and redshirt junior Anslee Long clinched the match for the Ospreys. Alfaro Solis extended the initial lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the third slot before Makela turned in the same score to take six. Long posted a 6-4, 7-5 win at the four spot.Â

The remainder of the courts advanced to third-set 10-point tiebreakers with Austin Peay taking the one and five lines. Bartlett earned a 10-3 third-set tiebreaker win to take the two slot, 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 1-0 (10-3).Â

North Florida travels to Conway, Ark. to battle Central Arkansas on Friday, March 28 at 12 p.m.Â
