Men's Golf Paces Field at World Golf Village Classic

SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. - North Florida men's golf flexed its muscles at kick off the week with three individuals among the top three spots at World Golf Village Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky on Monday afternoon.

Most of the Ospreys competed the full two rounds of play to start the early week, but a couple still have their final holes remaining due to darkness. They will finish out the second round in the morning and continue onto the final round holding a 25-stroke team lead.

UNF currently holds the top three spots in the tournament with Brett Schell leading the way with a seven-stoke lead at 8-under 136 with 13 combined birdies over the two rounds. Jason Duff and Filippo Serra share second overall behind Schell at 1-under 143 to help the Ospreys build its dominant lead over the 18-team field.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

  • Schell saved his best for the second round with a 6-under 66 to highlight his phenomenal outing that places him at the top of the leaderboard.
  • Serra stayed solid through both rounds with six combined birdies and long runs of pars to be second overall at 1-under.
  • Duff executed a similar strategy with six birdies as well to be tied with Serra in second at 1-under.
  • Danny Erickson and Justin Ross turned in their scores to round out the Osprey group on Monday.
  • Adam Vermut had a fantastic Osprey debut as an unattached player going for six birdies at 3-over to be in seventh going into the final 18 holes.

North Florida will look to clinch its first team tournament win since the 2022-23 season in the final round of the World Golf Village Classic on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
