
Women's Basketball Falls to Bellarmine

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball fell to Bellarmine, 93-65, inside UNF Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Senior guard Jazmine Spencer turned in a team-high 14 points on 5-10 from the field and 3-7 from three, in addition three steals and two rebounds in 23 minutes. Junior guard Helena Rafnsdottir added 12 points on 3-6 from the field and 6-6 from the line in 25 minutes.Â
North Florida outscored Bellarmine 26-14 in bench points and 13 Ospreys logged action on the afternoon.Â

FIRST HALF: North Florida jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the initial minute of action behind an opening three from senior guard Jazmine Spencer and a jumper from junior guard Helena Rafnsdottir. Freshman forward Jasmynne Gibson beat her defender and finished inside the paint to secure a 11-9 lead at the 6:05-minute mark of the first quarter. North Florida trailed 23-17 after a back-and-forth opening quarter. Bellarmine extended its lead to 45-26 at the half. Spencer led all Ospreys with 14 points in the first half, nine of which came in the first quarter.Â
SECOND HALF: Freshman guard Jadah Toombs checked in the game and collected a steal that led to a transition pullup three for her first collegiate points. Gibson turned in five points and five rebounds in the third quarter. Bellarmine led 70-41 at the end of the third quarter.Â
North Florida outscored Bellarmine 24-23 in the fourth quarter to reach the eventual final.
