
Women's Basketball Falls On The Road To Stetson

DeLAND, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball fell to Stetson, 71-63, inside the Edmunds Center on Thursday evening.
The Ospreys came out of halftime firing with a 12-2 run that saw UNF trail by just five points in the third quarter, but that was as close as it would get. Jamisyn Stinson, Jasmynne Gibson, and Kaila Rougier combined for 44 points and were a major part of North Florida's second-half surge.
Stinson and Gibson led the way offensively with 15 points apiece. Gibson grabbed 13 boards en route to a double-double and Stinson was 3-for-6 from behind the arc. Rougier rounded out UNF's leading scorers with 14 points.

FIRST HALF: North Florida battled its way back from a 12-point deficit in the first quarter…Nia Brown kickstarted a 7-0 run for the Ospreys, it was capped off with a made layup by Sarah Taub to cut Stetson's lead to 28-15 at the 5:10 mark of the second quarter…Stinson knocked down a smooth 2-point jumper and Rougier finished a tough and-one layup to keep UNF afloat in the final minutes…the Hatters took a 37-22 lead into halftime.
SECOND HALF: The Ospreys came out of the break with a sense of urgency and it translated to the hardwood…Gibson opened UNF's scoring with an and-one layup and got the free throw to go to shrink North Florida's deficit to 14…it sparked a 12-2 surge for North Florida that included a three-pointer by Stinson, bringing UNF within five points of the Hatters with 7:46 left in the third quarter…Stetson found its rhythm down the stretch of the third, taking a 54-43 advantage into the fourth…Stinson buried a three to cut Stetson's lead to nine with 6:17 left in regulation…the Hatters pushed their lead to 13 just over one minute later…Taub and Jazmine Spencer both made layups to shrink the Ospreys deficit to six with under four minutes left before faltering.
