JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball strung together a competitive effort against one of the top four teams in the ASUN and had Eastern Kentucky on its heels in the fourth quarter, but EKU's strong finish was too much in a 71-58 defeat Thursday evening inside UNF Arena.
Jasmynne Gibson and Jazmine Spencer carried the weight offensively for North Florida. Gibson had a well-balanced performance with 12 points, four rebounds and two blocks.
She was also instrumental in UNF's 9-3 run in the fourth quarter that cut its deficit to just six. Spencer added 11 points, dished out three assists and grabbed three boards. Nia Brown followed with nine points and was 3-for-6 from three-point range.
