
Men's Basketball Drops Non-Conference Finale To Columbia

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Men's Basketball fell to Columbia in its non-conference finale, 90-82, at UNF Arena on Sunday.Â

Senior guard Kamrin Oriol turned in a team-high 24 points, his third-straight game and sixth overall game this season with 20 or more points, in addition to five assists and four rebounds in 36 minutes. Oriol has led the team in scoring in nine games.Â

Sophomore guard Kent Jackson posted 18 points on 6-11 from the field and 4-9 from three with four rebounds in 32 minutes. Graduate student guard/forward Dalton Gayman added 16 points on 4-8 from the field, 3-4 from three and 5-6 from the free-throw line in 24 minutes.

North Florida opened the game on a 7-0 run in the initial 1:21 minutes of action behind five points from freshman guard/forward Trey Cady, who made his first career start. North Florida maintained its lead and led 12-8 at the initial first-half media timeout.Â

Oriol finished a driving layup in traffic to secure a 21-20 lead for North Florida. Columbia led by as much as nine in the first half before North Florida rallied to secure a 43-42 lead. Gayman finished the first half with 13 points on 4-6 from the field and 3-3 from three for his fourth game with 10 or more points at North Florida.Â
