
Volleyball Drops Regular-Season Finale To FGCU

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida volleyball fought hard, but fell to Florida Gulf Coast, 3-0, on senior night at UNF Arena on Friday evening.
The seniors and graduate students who were honored before the match included senior libero Maymie Guthrie, senior opposite Mackenzie Piester, senior middle blocker Kierstyn McFall, graduate outside hitter Kailey McKnight and graduate outside hitter Janelly Ceopa.
UNF 0, FGCU 3 (25-27, 23-25, 15-25)
Set 1: North Florida posted 17 kills in set one to FGCU's 15, though came up short of earning the victory. Florida Gulf Coast tallied five blocks in the set.
Set 2: McKnight reached a team-high six kills on .357 hitting in set two. Dawson reached double-digit assists in the second set to go with four digs and two aces, but FGCU finished set two en route to the victory.
Set 3: FGCU used 15 kills on .343 to facilitate a strong offensive performance, bringing the match to its final margin.

North Florida will be the No. 8 seed in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament and will play No. 1-seeded FGCU on Thursday in Fort Myers, Fla. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. at Alico Arena.
