JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's soccer's Ella Dudley earned her first-ever ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honor as announced by the league office Tuesday, Sept. 3.Â
"I'm really thrilled to see Ella receive defensive weekly honors from the ASUN" head coach Eric Faulconer said. "She has been a tremendous addition to our program. She is a great player, her leadership qualities have been a true asset to this team and has been instrumental in our early season success."
The Ospreys earned its third straight ASUN weekly honor with Allison Souers and Zara Siassi collecting Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week laurels on 8/19 and 8/26, respectively.Â
Dudley tallied 180 minutes over the last two games, playing the full 90 against both Kennesaw State and Mercer. The St. Augustine, Fla. native was instrumental in keeping a clean sheet against the Owls and holding the Bears to under two goals for the first time this season.Â
Out of the opening six matches, Dudley has helped the Ospreys secure four clean sheets, against Miami, Florida, Alabama A&M and Kennesaw State. She has started all six games this season and has played the second most minutes (non-GK) with 475 to her name.Â
Dudley was named as one of the team captains for the 2024 season after transferring in from the University of New Hampshire where she played for the last four seasons. The graduate defender played 58 games for the Wildcats, tallying eight goals, four being game-winners, and three assists.
UNF concludes a season-long home stretch, hosting Georgia Southern at Hodges Stadium Thursday, Sept. 5 with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
