Sofia Miliancano Tabbed ASUN Goalkeeper Of The Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Women's Soccer's fifth year goalkeeper Sofia Miliancano was tabbed ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday.

"Excited to see Sofia [Miliancano] earn ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week honors," Head Coach Eric Faulconer said. "She was coming off an early season ending injury from last year. It took a few games to round back into her all-conference form of two seasons ago. She has been instrumental in our success so far and she keeps getting better every game."

The selection marks the third ASUN Goalkeeper of the week recognition in program history after junior goalkeeper Chrissa Avery earned the distinction last season, and Miliancano previously earned the honor on Oct. 25, 2022.

For the Ospreys, it also marks their third ASUN weekly award distinction this season after junior forward Taylor Tamares was named ASUN Player of the Week on Sept. 28, and fifth year forward/midfielder Paige McSwigan was tabbed ASUN Player of the Week on Sept. 8.

Miliancano secured a pair of shutouts with eight saves and a perfect 1.000 save percentage this past weekend to help North Florida remain atop the ASUN Conference standings and unbeaten in ASUN play.

Miliancano posted a clean sheet with four saves in 90 minutes in a 1-0 shutout win at West Florida on Oct. 1.

She followed that with her third-consecutive clean sheet in the 1-0 win at Queens on Oct. 4 with four saves in 90 minutes. For Miliancano, it also marked her 16th collegiate clean sheet.

North Florida travels to Fort Myers, Fla., for a road matchup with FGCU at Pickering Field on Thursday, Oct. 8. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
