North Florida Set for First Road Tests

Ospreys Play at FAMU Wednesday, Go to Islanders Classic
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida volleyball plays its first road tests of the season and first of four-straight outside of Jacksonville tomorrow night in Tallahassee as the Ospreys take on FAMU. UNF goes to Texas A&M Corpus Christi for the Islanders Classic beginning Thursday night.

ASUN Honors to Start the Year
Amy Burkhardt was honored by the Atlantic Sun Conference just one week into the season, earning conference player of the week honors for her play during last weekend's 2-1 stretch. The outside hitter was tabbed to the North Florida Invite All-Tournament Team, posting a .315 hitting percentage, 4.09 kills/set and 2.36 digs/set.Â
Making Their Debuts
North Florida saw the UNF debut of five different players last weekend. Dakota Skye-Spurrier, Jacqueline Arrington, Kamila Mieles, Ella Bines and Kacey Kazmierski all saw time during the first weekend of play.

- Head coach Kristen Wright enters her seventh season leading the Ospreys
- She is knocking at the door on 100 wins, tallying 90 in her time in Jacksonville
- Outside hitter Kailey McKnight was named to the ASUN Preseason squad
- Joining McKnight as returning upperclassmen are Kierstyn McFall, Kyla Solis, Janelly Ceopa, Mackenzie Piester, Anna Butler, Annie Antar, Rylee Moorhead, Amy Burkhardt and Maymie Guthrie
- McFall returns after posting 248 kills and 47 blocks in 122 sets last year
Scouting FAMU
- FAMUÂ is coming off a 1-2 weekend at the Georgia State Tournament in Atlanta
- The Rattlers swept Indiana State, while falling to South Dakota State and Georgia State
- Brookelynn Thomas was named to the all-tournament team, hitting .433
- The Rattlers fell to Jackson State in the SWAC Championship match a year ago
- Brooke Lynn Watts returns after earning First Team All-SWAC honors last season
- Brooke Hudson was the league libero of the year last season, but the Rattlers will be without her following her graduation
- The Islanders started off the season with a big test, going to Nebraska for matches against Nebraska and Oklahoma before taking on Texas A&M in College Station
- The Islanders were picked fourth in the Southland Conference Preseason Poll
- Kyndal Payne and Leah Stolfus were named to the Preseason All-Conference First Team and Kayla White was picked to the second team
- Payne is a two-time AVCA All-American and reigning SLC Player of the Year
- Texas Southern is looking for its first win of the season
- TSU is coming off losses against North Texas, Houston Christian and Texas State
- Texas Southern went 8-23 a year ago and 8-8 in conference
- North Florida swept Texas Southern a year ago
- JSU is coming off a perfect weekend after hosting the Gamecock Classic
- Jacksonville State defeated West Georgia, New Orleans and Arkansas Pine Bluff
- The Gamecocks were picked to finish eighth in the C-USA Preseason Coaches Poll
