JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida volleyball (2-1) swept Quinnipiac to start the morning before coming up just short in a five-set battle against Mercer (3-0) in the finale of the North Florida Invite Friday, Aug. 31

UNF 3, Quinnipiac 0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-18).

Inside the Sets

Set 1: UNF established itself with a red hot start, taking a 6-0 lead right out of the gates … North Florida hit .400 and held the Bobcats to just .031 hitting to cruise to a 25-13 first set win … Amy Burkhardt went for five kills in the opening session to lead all players.
Set 2: The trio of Burkhardt, Jacqueline Arrington and Rylee Moorhead teamed up for consecutive blocks to give UNF an 11-9 lead and force Quinnipiac into a timeout … Quinnipiac went on a 9-4 run to take a 20-15 lead … North Florida rallied with a 6-1 run to tie it up at 21 … Arrington closed the set with a sideout as UNF dominated the latter half of the frame.
Set 3: UNF held frame and didn't allow Quinnipiac to get the lead the entire third frame while hitting .364 to complete the sweep.

Inside the Sets

Set 1: North Florida won a marathon first set due to the help of strong defense that pushed Mercer into a .073 hitting percentage … Burkhardt posted four kills as UNF hit .273 as a team … the first frame featured eight tie scores and seven lead changes.
Set 2: It was a drag out battle in the second frame as well … Mercer pushed ahead to a 24-21 lead, but UNF rattled off three-straight points to push the set further … Mercer closed out the frame with two points in a 26-24 win.
Set 3: UNF outhit Mercer, .312 to .086, cruising past Mercer in the third frame … Burkhardt posted five kills and two aces … North Florida added six blocks in the third frame alone.
Set 4: Mercer replied once again, hitting .296 to push things to a fifth frame.
Set 5: The Bears were able to go on a run to start the set as they never relinquished the lead.
