Joins Broermann as Professional Ospreys from 2023-24 Season
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Lyric Swann has signed the first professional contract of her career with the Newcastle Eagles in the United Kingdom for the 2024-25 season, as announced by the team on Monday.
"Newcastle is gaining a high-energy player with a high basketball IQ," said UNF head coach Erika Lambert. "Lyric [Swann] will make positive contributions to the club's perimeter play not only as a dynamic scorer, but as a smart passer also. She was our team's designated 'hype woman' and I know Lyric will bring that same passion to British basketball!"
The former Osprey is the 10th player in the history of the program to turn professional. She also becomes the second UNF player this offseason to earn a pro contract after her teammate, Emma Broermann, signed with Plamen Pozega in Croatia.
The Elkridge, Md., native was a staple of the UNF offense over her two seasons in Jacksonville with selections to the 2023-24 Preseason All-ASUN Team and the 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District Team. She was also ASUN Newcomer of the Week in December of 2022, followed with two selections to the ASUN Honor Roll.
During her two-year career, she started 48 of 54 games with 649 total points and 110 three-point shots made. She also tallied 191 rebounds, 97 assists and 62 steals during her time as an Osprey.
