FLORENCE, Ala. - North Florida baseball (21-25, 11-13 ASUN) took the lead in the fifth inning on a go-ahead RBI double from
Cade Bush, followed by great relief performances from
Jordan Wimpelberg and
Zane Starling to earn a 4-3 win against North Alabama (16-32, 8-17 ASUN) on Friday evening.
The Ospreys started with back-to-back responses from
Eric Fouraker with RBIs in the second and fourth innings to tie the ballgame with each of his plate appearances. Bush doubled a two-run RBI hit to left center to give UNF the lead, but it stayed close after the Lions closed the gap with a run in the fifth.
Through the final 4.2 innings of the game, Wimpelberg and Starling combined for five strikeouts, one walk and only three hits allowed to clinch the series-opening win. Wimpelberg earned his third win of the season, while Starling picked up his second save on the year.
