Women’s Tennis Drops Close Match Against Furman

Ospreys Fall Behind in the Late Stages of Singles Play
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis (5-6) lost to Furman (3-9) on Thursday afternoon at UNF Tennis Complex.
A strong start for the Ospreys gave them the edge they needed to gain the doubles point in sweeping fashion. With the help of Kendall Nash and Anslee Long's seventh doubles win of the season, the Ospreys were going into singles play with all the momentum.
With the Paladins slowly pulling away in singles play, claiming all but one set on all six courts in the first set, the Ospreys needed to regain their momentum from earlier in the match. Amy Kaplan aided in regaining that momentum to tie the score back up, 2-2, with her win in straight sets.
Alisa Lyshko was on the verge of forcing a third set on court four taking the second set to a tiebreak, but fell short, 7-5, giving the Paladins the 4-2 win. Jasmin Makela's match was left unfinished.
Next up for the Ospreys, they will begin conference play on Wednesday, Mar. 13, against Kennesaw State at 11 a.m., at the UNF Tennis Complex.
