Kaila Rougier Paces UNF With 15 Points
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Despite double-digit scoring performances from four Ospreys (1-2) and a second half spurt that saw the Ospreys outscore Georgia Southern (2-0), an early deficit was too much to overcome as North Florida dropped a Saturday matinee matchup, 81-65, Nov. 9.
FINAL | Georgia Southern 81, UNF 65
Beyond the Box Score
North Florida's Jazmine Spencer had a strong showing in the first half, posting 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting to pace North Florida. Not far behind was Jasmynne Gibson, who earned the start and notched seven first half points and a game-high five boards through 20 minutes. Despite that, Georgia Southern shot 50 percent from the floor to take a double-digit lead into halftime.
The Ospreys found some traction to start the second half, with Kaila Rougier draining a three-pointer and following with a layup. North Florida would shoot 8-for-12 from the field in the third quarter while eventually going on a 10-2 run over a span of 3:47.Â
The run helped UNF cut Georgia Southern's largest lead in half. After trailing by as much as 24 in the first, a Helena Rafnsdottir free throw brought UNF within single digits with over six minutes to go. Georgia Southern would get a few important three-pointers to rattle in as the Eagles held on late.
