Ospreys Extend Unbeaten Streak to Eight Games

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's soccer (7-3-7, 4-1-4 ASUN) clinched a spot in the 2024 ASUN Championship Tournament with a dominant 2-0 win over Bellarmine (5-9-2, 4-4-1 ASUN) thanks to goals from Bella Pontieri and Jersi Dadah on Thursday night.

Following an even opening 15 minutes to the game, Pontieri struck from long distance once again for her sixth goal of the campaign. Just five minutes before halftime, Amanda Hartmann played Dadah through on goal, who dispatched the defender easily, sending a shot over the head of the Bellarmine keeper to extend the Ospreys lead. North Florida's defense was resilient, not allowing a single shot from the Knights to secure its sixth clean sheet of the season.

With Thursday's win over Bellarmine, the Ospreys improved to eight games unbeaten, a streak that started Sept. 22 against Stetson.

Graduate defender Zara Siassi tied the all-time appearance record for the program as she played her 79th consecutive career game against the Knights. The record is currently held by former Osprey Lauren Maze, who played from 2006-2010. Siassi is on track to break the record against EKU Sunday.

Inside the Match

First Half: Both teams started the game on equal footing with neither side creating many chances through 15 minutes … Bella Pontieri ripped a long range shot in the 20th minute for her third goal in two games to give the Ospreys the lead … in the 40th minute Amanda Hartmann sent a ball through to Jersi Dadah, who dazzled the defender and launched a strike over the head of the keeper to make it 2-0 … the Osprey defense was resilient, not allowing a shot in the opening period, taking a two-goal lead into the break.
Second Half: UNF continued to stay strong defensively out of the break as Bellarmine began to find their way into the match … on the attacking front, the Ospreys continued to attack the Knights goal, tallying five more shots in the second half to take their total to 10 … the Osprey defense held strong, allowing zero shots through 90 minutes to clinch their place in the ASUN Championship Tournament.
