JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A familiar name to North Florida Ospreys fans,
Brandon Rasmussen is set to return to The Nest and complete the UNF men's basketball roster in advance of the 2023-24 season as announced by head coach
Matthew Driscoll and staff.
A native of Christiansted, U.S. Virgin Islands, Rasmussen is wrapping up play with the USVI National Team as it competes for a spot in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. The junior completes the UNF roster, bringing UNF's squad to 14 student-athletes for this season.
"We are really excited and eager for
Brandon Rasmussen to rejoin our Osprey Family after his added experience with the U.S. Virgin Islands National Team," head coach
Matthew Driscoll said. "When our student-athletes gain these opportunities to play in these scenarios and at different levels, they always bring a wealth of experience and insight to our program. Playing against seasoned and often older competition on a global stage brings specialized knowledge back to our student-athletes and subsequently our program."
Rasmussen played against Antigua and Nicaragua as he represented USVI this past month. The 6-4 guard already logged two letters in the Navy and Gray, playing with UNF since 2021.
