Top Ranked Player Earns PGA Tour Card at End of Season
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - North Florida men's golf senior Nick Gabrelcik earns a spot in the top four of the PGA Tour University Preseason Rankings for the Class of 2024 on Wednesday afternoon.
Gabrelcik debuted in the rankings as the top-ranked player from a non-Power Five institution. He is also only one of two players ranked in the top 25 of the preseason standings from outside of the Power Five, joining Mats Ege East from Tennessee State who is ranked 23rd overall.
"We know Nick [Gabrelcik] is one of the best in his class," said head coach Scott Schroeder about the preseason rankings. "This puts him in position to be at the top of PGA Tour U with another good year this upcoming season."
Last weekend, Gabrelcik closed with a course record-tying 64 at The Honors Course to win the Southern Amateur by one over North Carolina's Dylan Menante (Preseason No. 13). Through three seasons at North Florida, Gabrelcik has set program records for wins (7), top-five finishes (19), rounds in the 60s (48) and single-season scoring average (69.00 in 2022-23).
He is a three-time PING All-American, including a Second-Team selection in 2023, and has represented the United States at the Palmer Cup the last three years. In March, he made the cut in his PGA Tour debut at the Valspar Championship (T69).
