
Men's Golf Sits With Share of Second at ASUN Championship

MOBILE, Ala. - North Florida men's golf showed out strong through the first two rounds of play, as it sits with a share of second at the ASUN Championship at Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.
The Ospreys had seven of their 10 combined 18-hole scores be in the 60s, including all five players reaching that mark in the second round. They are also the only team to have each one of their individuals among the top 25 on the player's leaderboard.
Robbie Higgins and Nick Gabrelcik showed why they were selected together as First Team All-Conference with combined scores of 11-under 133 to be tied for fourth heading into the final round. Higgins recorded a career-low 8-under 64 in the opening round with eight birdies and an eagle to jumpstart his day in Mobile.

ROUND REFLECTIONS
- Gabrelcik scored six birdies and 11 pars over his last 17 holes of the day to push himself inside the top four and put himself within reach of back-to-back medalist crowns at the ASUN meet.
- The three-time ASUN Golfer of the Year had at least three birdies on each side of every nine holes and only recorded three total holes worse than par.
- He sits with the second-best average on par-five holes at 7-under, as well as the second-most birdies with 14 total.
- Higgins recorded eight of his 13 total birdies in the opening round to join Gabrelcik in the top four overall.
- He also had the top par-four average at 9-under, followed by Gabrelcik for the second-best at 6-under.
- The junior was one of 12 players on Tuesday to shoot an eagle on the day.
- Davis Lee led the team in pars with 24 total, including 13 in the second round, to share 17th at 5-under 139.
- He finished his last 13 holes of the second round with four birdies and nothing worse than par.
- Lance Yates made his ASUN Championship debut joining Lee at 5-under 139 after carding birdie on four of his last seven holes of the second round.
- The redshirt junior also had a top-six par-four average score at 4-under.
- Cody Carroll, in his team-high third appearance at the conference meet, turned in 4-under 140 combined to be tied for 23rd overall.
- The fifth-year graduate rounded out the team score in the final grouping with eight total birdies, including three consecutive during the front nine of the second round.
- The Ospreys are the only team in the ASUN field to have all five players inside the top 25 individuals.
- They also join Liberty as the only squads with two players in the top five.
- UNF was the only team in either round to have all five players shoot in the 60s during their second round of play.
- They hold the top par-four average score (23-under) by 14 strokes, while also having the most total birdies (54) and the second-best par-five average (24-under).
