Gabrelcik and Higgins Within Top 10 Individuals

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - North Florida men's golf picked up where it left off from earlier this week with more spectacular play to place second through the first two rounds of The Hayt at Sawgrass Country Club on Sunday afternoon.

The Ospreys are one of two teams to finish the second round at under par, as they completed the day at 11-under. They join Vanderbilt in the top two, who is ranked as the second-best team in the country, while also leading No. 17 Alabama and No. 39 Arkansas.

After a steady first round, Nick Gabrelcik had an incredible second half of the day that included four birdies on his last five holes to sit in third on the leaderboard at 6-under 138 (72-66). Robbie Higgins also had an impressive couple of rounds with eight birdies combined to card 3-under 141 (71-70) and tied for eighth.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

Gabrelcik had six total birdies and did not score worse than par in the second round.
He finished with the best par-four average (5-under) and the third-most total pars (26).
Higgins started 4-under through the first 12 holes, while also scoring four birdies in the second round.
The junior has the third-best par-five average among the players at 5-under.
Davis Lee had his best round in the afternoon with four birdies and 13 pars including 3-under on the front nine.
He shares 14th overall with a score of 1-under 143 after rebounding from his morning start.
Cooper Smith finished the day with three birdies in round two to be tied for 37th overall at 4-over 148.
He also was just behind Gabrelcik with a top-five par-four average at 2-under, while Lee also has 1-under average on those holes.
Cody Carroll had his best round in the morning at 1-under 71 to finish inside the top 50 at 5-over 149.
Carroll joins Gabrelcik and Lee with an even-par par-three average on the day.
Justin Ross, Jason Duff, Grant Sutliff, Alejandro Ramos and Lance Yates were all playing as unattached individuals.
Ross made his collegiate debut tied for 14th at 1-under 143 combined among some of the best players in the nation.
Duff finished the day on a high note with an eagle to also place inside the top 20 individuals at even-par 144.
He and Carroll had a four-under par-five average that is among the top in the field.
Sutliff played his best golf of the day on the back nine of the first round, hitting 4-under on that side to help him finish in the top 25 at 2-over 146.
Ramos was the second player to make his Osprey debut carding 9-over 153 through both rounds.
His par-five average of 3-under sat just behind Duff and Carroll on the leaderboard.
Ramos joined Duff as two of 14 players with an eagle over 36 holes.
Yates wrapped up the individual play for UNF at 11-over 155 and a top-five par-three average among all players at 1-under.
Gabrelcik, Higgins, Ross, Carroll, Sutliff and Lee all scored eight birdies through two rounds on Sunday.
The Ospreys have the second-best par-four average (2-over) and the third-most birdies (38) among the field.
UNF started play in what is the earliest home tournament start in program history on Feb. 5.
