Ospreys Tie DI-Era Home Run Record in Slugfest Win Against Villanova

North Florida Has Five Players Tally at Least One Home Run
Gabriel Esquivel, Alex Lodise, Cade Reich, Aidan Sweatt and Austin Brinling all homered in a game that saw six multi-run half innings. That five-homer mark was the most in a single game for UNF since the Ospreys hit five March 27, 2015 against FGCU. It's the sixth time UNF has done so in the program's Division I era, and just one shy of the UNF all-time record.Â
Seven Ospreys tallied multi-hit games and three posted multi-RBI performances as the Osprey evened up the series.Â

Behind the Line Score
- A relay on a gapper in the top of the first quieted a potential scoring threat for Nova, with Reich getting the ball to Lodise before a strike was fired to Finn Howell at third.
- Sweatt put down a beautiful bunt single to open the first, but Nova got three-straight outs.
- Nova put up a two-run home run to right center to take a 2-0 lead in the second.
- Esquivel replied with his own solo shot to right center in the second, the first of his UNF career.
- A pair of two-out singles along with a wild pitch allowed Cade Reich to even things up at 2-2 in the second.
- The right center gap was busy again as Nova hit a solo home run to regain the lead.
- Brinling helped UNF tie it at 3-3 just minutes later, tripling to right center before being plated by an RBI sac fly lineout from Jakob Runnels.
- UNF completed a five-run third thanks to a two-out two-RBI double off the wall from Alex Lodise. Cade Reich belted a two-run home run to left center to give UNF a 7-3 lead.
- Nova replied with a three-run inning in the top of the fourth, a wild frame that saw two hits, a hit batter, an error and obstruction play.
- Aidan Sweatt's leadoff double was squandered in the bottom of the fourth.
- The home runs continued to fly in the bottom of the fifth when Lodise met a 94 mile per hour fastball for a solo home run to left center.
- A hit by pitch started a four-run sixth for Nova as the Wildcats took the lead again, 10-8. A three-run double punctuated the inning as a fielder's choice and infield base hit set things up.
- The second five-run inning of UNF's day came in the seventh, all of which came with two outs. Reich roped a two-out RBI double, Finn Howell grounded an RBI single up the middle and Sweatt gave UNF the lead with a two-run home run to left center.
- Brinling made it back-to-back jacks with a long home run into the trees one batter later, giving UNF a 13-10 lead.Â
- Nova cut into the lead once again, homering inside the right field foul pole
- UNF had another chance for more insurance runs in the eighth, but a 4-6-3 inning-ending double play got Villanova out of it.
