Ospreys Win 5-2 Over Falcons
LAKE NONA, Fla. - North Florida (3-1) men's tennis secured a neutral site win at the USTA Campus, downing Air Force, 5-2, handing the Falcons their first loss of the season.
In doubles, Matt Carroll and Bruno Vietri defeated their opponents, 6-3, as Breno Marques and Andreas Scott did the same. Jonas Hartenstein's and Rodrigo Crespo's match was left unfinished with the Ospreys leading, 5-4.Â
With a 1-0 lead, the Ospreys came off strong in singles play as Crespo quickly won 6-3, 6-2 in the second position, followed by Vietri defeating his opponent in two sets on the fourth court. Although Marques fell in two sets in the fifth position, Scott was able to win on the sixth court to give UNF a 4-1 lead over the Falcons, earning his first clinch as an Osprey. With only two courts remaining, Hartenstein dropped his opponent in the top slot in a seven-point tiebreaker, securing his seventh point with an ace. Despite Carroll falling in three sets, the Ospreys secured the 5-2 team win against the Falcons.Â
The Ospreys look to continue their win streak as they return back to Orlando to face UCF Friday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m., then returning back to Jacksonville to host Charleston Saturday, Feb. 25.Â
