
Men's Golf Stands in Second on Spring Opener at Sea Best Invitational

Three Ospreys Inside Top 10 Individuals
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - North Florida men's golf opens its first day of the spring season with a stellar outing sitting as the runner-up at the Sea Best Invitational at TPC Sawgrass on Monday afternoon.
The Ospreys hold second overall with leads over No. 33 Lipscomb, No. 40 Liberty and No. 44 Louisville. They only stand six strokes behind No. 9 Florida through the first two rounds of their spring season opener.Â
Through the first 18 holes, Robbie Higgins and Cody Carroll kept UNF afloat with each scoring 1-under 69 in the first round. Nick Gabrelcik was 4-over 74 in the first round, but bounced back in a big way on this second go-around scoring 4-under 66 to put all three Ospreys among the top 10 individuals.

ROUND REFLECTIONS
- Gabrelcik had seven birdies on the day, including five in the second round and two back-to-back.
- He has his sights set on a fifth medalist crown at a tournament hosted on the First Coast.
- Higgins put together a pair of solid rounds to come out at even-par through two rounds.
- The Bradenton, Fla., native had the most birdies among the whole field through two rounds with nine total on Monday.
- The pair of juniors dominated par-three holes, as they sit first and second overall in par-three average at 3-under and 2-under respectively.
- Carroll had an identical scorecard to Higgins with 1-under 69 and 1-over 71 in the first and second rounds.
- The graduate stayed consistent with a top 10 spot for the most pars through two rounds with 26 total.
- Davis Lee matched Gabrelcik's seven birdies on the day to put up 2-over and reach a share of 17th on the leaderboard.
- The senior found his success on par four holes with a top five average on those holes at 1-under.
- Both Cooper Smith and Jason Duff, an unattached individual, scored 5-over with four birdies each to be tied for 26th overall.
- Three of the five Ospreys that played were tied for the best par-five average with Gabrelcik, Carroll and Smith each scoring at 2-under on those holes.
- The Ospreys are one of two teams with three players in the top seven, four players in the top 17, and five players in the top 26.
- UNF notched the best par-five average at 6-under, which was four strokes better than the rest of the field.
- They also produced the second-best par-three (even-par) and par-four (13-over) average, as well as the second-most birdies with 32 total.
