Georgia Came Into the Match Averaging Over Three Goals Per Game
ATHENS, Ga. - North Florida women's soccer had the tall task of managing a streaking Georgia offensive attack Thursday night, and the Ospreys (1-3) nearly pulled off a result before coming up just short in a 1-0 loss to the Bulldogs (5-2).Â
A Georgia goal in the 18th minute was the difference as neither team found the net over the next 72 minutes of play. Sofia Miliancano and Sarah Barrentine both logged 45 minutes in goal, while Ariana Munoz put a team-high two shots up.
UGA was coming off a 7-0 win against another ASUN foe in Kennesaw State Sept. 4. The Bulldogs' one goal was its lowest goal total since being shutout, 1-0, at Wake Forest Aug. 25.Â

Inside the Match
- First Half: UGA put on the pressure early, generating the game's first shot on a cross in the fourth minute … the Bulldogs capitalized on that pressure, getting deep in the box for the first goal of the game in the 18th minute … Sofia Miliancano made a beautiful diving save in the 22nd minute, stretching out to deflect a shot with her glove … UNF's backline stood tall to keep the contest at 1-0 in favor of UGA going into the half.
- Second Half: Sarah Barrentine entered in goal for Miliancano to start the second half and helped keep the Bulldogs at bay … Mia Sadler put the first UNF shot on goal in the second in the 65th minute … despite losing the head-to-head shot total for the match, UNF arguably put more pressure on goal late in the match, generating a number of shots over the final third of the contest … UGA had just enough defense late to maintain its shutout … Barrentine put together a scoreless 45 minutes in the second session.
