UNF Tallies Season High 21 Shots, Fekany Scores UNF’s Goal
ROCK HILL, S.C. - UNF women's soccer posted its most shots in a game in nearly two years, although Winthrop's backline was able to absorb all but one of those shots as the Ospreys (1-3-1) and Eagles (3-1-1) played to a 1-1 draw in North Florida's non-conference finale Sunday, Sept. 11.
After coming out of the half with zeros on the scoreboard, freshman Allie Fekany broke the stalemate in the 50th minute with her second goal of the season. The lead was short lived as Winthrop's Annabel Thomas evened things up 10 minutes later.
UNF put up five shots to none for Winthrop over the final 10 minutes of the match, although Winthrop endured the push to force a draw.
North Florida held the overwhelming advantage in nearly every statistical category. Most notably, UNF outshot Winthrop, 21-2, and posted eight shots on goal to just one for Winthrop. The Ospreys also tallied 11 corner kick opportunities to only three for the hosts.
